A staple spice in almost every Indian household, Methi Powder is obtained from fenugreek seeds. Along with its culinary uses, methi is well known for its medicinal benefits as well, particularly reducing cholesterol and combating diabetes. Fenugreek is a  traditional herb that has found its way into a variety of Indian dishes that include pickles, curries, and spice mixes. Having its origin in the Mediterranean, it is native to Western Asia and is highly valued in India, Egypt, Greece, and Italy. The herb has light green leaves and produces slender, beaked pods, each containing around 10-20 hard yellowish-brown seeds. These tiny golden-brown seeds have a slightly sweet and nutty flavour, and are smooth and oblong, grooved across a corner that makes them appear hooked.
